5 activities that kill productivity & solutions to increase efficiency.
Look at the list below and identify if any of these activities are killing your productivity and efficiency.
No.1 rule to achieve anything in life is to know how to do your best with the time you’ve been gifted;
In the modern day, the surge of ideas and inspiration is at a peak but so is the mode of distractions – in order to use this surge of ideas to your and society’s benefit, you need to have the knowledge on how to eliminate these distractions.
Below are given 5 activities that kill your productivity along with the solutions to increase your efficiency.
1. Social Media
Social Media is the no.1 tool today through which millions of people are making their dreams come true;
But it is also the no.1 tool today that is in fact distracting people from making their dreams come true.
So, learning how to use social media to your benefit instead of against it is very crucial.
If you’re someone who struggles with this distraction, here’s a tip that might help –
You can use the method of delayed gratification.
In this, you work for 25mins and then ease up in the distraction for a controlled amount of time – say 10mins.
So for working every 25mins you get 10mins of instant gratification.
You can increase or decrease the time according to your convenience slowly and steadily and consistently.
2. Comfort Zone Crisis
A comfort zone is a psychological state in which things feel familiar to a person and they are at ease and (perceive they are) in control of their environment.
In simpler terms, comfort zone is a psychological state that does not promote your growth, productivity, efficiency and creates a stagnancy that does not allow you to access your potential which is super important for success
The thing with comfort zone is that if you aren’t careful – it will decrease the quality of your life overtime as the laziness adds up and you condition your mind to perform within certain limits.
If a certain amount of comfort zone works for you – then great, stay in it – but if you want to achieve higher – you will have to leave your comfort zone in certain ways which is a very difficult thing to do.
A simple solution for increasing the boundaries of your comfort zone is and doing the unthinkable easily is –
TAKE IT SLOW. You do not have to leave your comfort zone all at once;
Because the aim is to make the productive habits automatic and easy for your brain and not force your entire being to perform a task.
If you don’t take it slow it will weirdly take much more time for you to adopt a habit due to lack of consistency.
Build a habit, slowly and consistently over time and your brain won’t require a lot of motivation to be productive.
You should read atomic habits as it will explain this theory to you in the most practical, scientifically approved way.
3. Perfectionist Mindset
Too many of us delay beginning a new venture or task for when the “timing is right” or “weather is more supportive” or “when we move in the new house” or “When I get that job” –
We wait around for the perfect conditions of certain external and internal stimuli but there needs to be a realization that such perfect conditions might never come around because not everything in life is under our control.
To curb this issue, you need to understand this –
Whatever it is that you want to do, do it now. Don’t postpone it for a better time because maybe the time that you’re living in right now provides the most favourable conditions that you might get for some time.
If you want better conditions – you’ve got to create them, instead of sitting around waiting for them to be perfect on their own. That doesn’t happen. You’re the creator. Create.
Realize this on your own time and start whatever it is you want to start – TODAY.
4. Not taking enough sleep
Gone are the times when ignorant people advocated a lack of sleep as a mode of productivity and efficiency.
It will kill your potential, toxify your brain and your emotional and analytical capabilities.
Even a single night of less sleep causes unethical behaviour, car accidents, plane crashes, weakens the memory storage, and A LOT of other hazardous things.
Now the importance of NREM and REM sleep of 7-8 hours is being advocated actively by sleep scientists.
The reason you might be unproductive is maybe a lack of quality sleep.
The solution is actually given in this AMAZING best-seller Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker.

5. HAVING A FEAR OF FAILURE
Such fears can work at a subconscious level too, meaning, that you maybe confused why consciously you don’t feel motivated to study and that maybe because the fear of failure is holding you back at a subconscious level.
Clearing the subconscious and reprocessing your mind to think and feel in a more productive way – is the only solution for it.
You can read this blog on what are affirmations and how they work – They will help you reprogram your mind to eradicate all fears that hold you back.
